Things to consider when applying to adopt Hercules:

  • estimated to be 2.5 - 3 year old Long haired, Piebald Dachshund (per previous owner)
  • needs help with potty manners
  • okay on leash but could use some training
  • will need time to adjust, his family was re-stationed and could not take him
  • he will need plenty of "brain games" and interaction
  • basic manners training highly encouraged
  • read more about the dachshund breed HERE
  • typically not great with children, families with young children discouraged
  • fenced yard a plus, he loves sniffing and running in the grass
  • he has lived with his housemate, Lola Bee but we are not sure if they are bonded (we will decide after we get to know them)
  • he is young and very energetic
  • he will need someone to work with him to complete his house training

Hercules is new in rescue. It will take time for us to get to know him but so far he is friendly (after the initial shock of not having his people) and playful. He is a little underweight so he is receiving several small meals a day until we can get to the vet for an initial check up. He has lived with Lola Bee (available for adoption) but we are not sure if they are bonded. We will be able to determine that as we get to know him/them better in their foster home. Currently he is in a temporary foster home until their foster returns from vacation on Monday, July 8th.

He will need help with potty manners and leash walking.

Hercules will need to see the vet then be neutered. Once healed from surgery he will be ready for adoption.
