UPDATE 7/28/2026
Nala has been on a journey to eradicate her heartworm disease. She has treatment with antibiotics and other meds to begin the process. Currently, she is receiving injections to to kill the adult and larvae in her system. Thankfully, she has had ZERO symptoms. The vet believes we caught the infestation at a VERY early stage!! She has taken the treatments like a little champ. Through it all, she remains loving and right by foster moms side, day in and day out. She will not be ready for adoption until completes the last injection the first week of September. She will have to wait a couple weeks post injection to travel any distance but she could be adopted locally with follow up at the Chesapeake Humane Society. She is currently in Chesapeake, VA. Please give this little lady the happily ever after she deserves!
Nala deserves more that she was given! Despite her circumstances, she remains a sweet girl looking for her forever home!
UPDATE 4/28/2026
Nala was seen by the vet for a dental. She was found to be heartworm positive. She also has some elevated blood levels we are investigating which could indicate cancer. Once we determine the source of the elevated labs we will decide if she is healthy enough to undergo heartworm treatment. Please send healing vibes and prayer to Nala. She’s a lovely little lady who deserves the best.
Nala is new in rescue. Her owner surrendered her to the rescue due to health reasons and an impending move.
Nala is a sweet little 8-9 pound yorkie girl. She is a bit shy but warms up quickly. She would not be a good fit for someone with young children due to her shyness. She is getting along well with her foster siblings (all small dogs). She is in desperate need of a spa day. She will need a dental before she is adopted.
We are still getting to know her and will post more as learn what she needs in a home.
