Carlton is new in rescue. We received a plea from the Leesburg Shelter for help with a puppy who needs more medical attention than they could provide. Of course we took one look at this sweet face and had to help!
Carlton is about 4.5 months old. He is very tiny at 5.4 pounds. He is a very happy and playful little boy who doesn’t let his medical issues get in the way of his life. He brings joy and happiness everywhere he goes!
We do not know his breed but he is a terrier mix of some sort, maybe Rat Terrier and Chihuahua but that is just a guess. He has seen multiple vets and an internist since entering our rescue.
Carlton has been diagnosed with achalasia, which is a neuromuscular defect causing stricture of the sphincter leading into the stomach and slow motility in the esophagus. He continues to undergo treatment and is thriving in his foster home. There is some discussion of surgery but we will not know more until he returns to the internist for a check up since beginning his new medication.
We are so very excited to report that Carlton’s medical bills have been sponsored by the 15 out or 10 Foundation and he will have his major medical care sponsored for life even after he is adopted!!!
