Christian is a 6-year-old, purebred miniature schnauzer weighing 15 pounds. He joined our rescue organization in July and comes from a hoarding situation in Pennsylvania. Despite the challenges he faced, Christian has demonstrated remarkable resilience and adaptability.
Since arriving at the rescue, Christian has received comprehensive veterinary care. His vaccines have been updated, he underwent a dental procedure, was microchipped, and he was neutered on Tuesday, 7/15/2025. Christian recovered quickly from his procedures and is now ready to find his forever home.
Initially, Christian was confused by his new surroundings. However, he quickly revealed his loving and affectionate nature, eagerly seeking attention from those around him. Christian has adjusted well to his foster family and now considers himself part of the pack. He enjoys going for walks and would thrive in an active home environment.
Christian sleeps through the night, is crate trained, and is approximately 80-90% house trained. Rainy days can be a challenge, as he dislikes the rain and may have occasional accidents. Although he is skittish when faced with new experiences, his curiosity encourages him to try new things. Over time, he has become more trusting and continues to show great potential for further growth.
Christian is eager to please and highly food motivated, making him an excellent candidate for additional training sessions to help build his confidence. He would do well in an active household where he receives plenty of attention and stimulation. Christian would likely get along with a calm, older dog who has experience with younger companions. He adores his foster family and frequently seeks out affection, nudging for pets and chin scratches. Christian is ready to become a cherished member of his new family. While Christian is a bit unsure around small children, he is not aggressive.
Miniature schnauzers are known for being intelligent, active, and vigilant—making them excellent watchdogs. They enjoy training and require regular exercise and mental stimulation. Due to their tendency to bark, schnauzers may not be ideal for apartment living. Additionally, they need grooming every 4-6 weeks to keep their coats healthy. Read more about the schnauzer HERE
