Say hello to Dolly — a tiny pup with a big personality!
At just 1 1/2 years old and 7 pounds, Dolly may be small, but she’ll steal your heart in an instant. Rescued from a shelter in Suffolk, Virginia, Dolly has proven herself to be resilient and affectionate. Little Dolly is happy, smart, and easy to motivate with food. Overall, she has shown good potty manners (though we never guarantee a dog is fully potty trained). She enjoys walks around the neighborhood (the more, the better!), snoozing in sunny spots, and playing with her favorite stuffed toys. She also has impressive jumping skills that allow her to scale furniture like a tiny kangaroo. Whether she’s flipped over for a belly rub or following you around to supervise your activities, Dolly balances independence with affection in the sweetest way. She would love a canine companion to play with
Dolly has faced some health challenges, but she’s come through them with a wagging tail. While in our care, she was spayed and had a benign mass removed. When she first arrived, neglected skin allergies had left her ears painfully swollen. The vet even feared she might need a surgery that would have cost her hearing. Thanks to daily treatments, Dolly is thriving — no surgery needed!
To stay healthy, Dolly will require ongoing allergy care for the rest of her life. Her treatment is estimated to cost around $300 monthly to include oral serum, prescription dog food and twice yearly visits to the dermatologist. The good news? With consistency, she’ll continue to live her best, happy-dog life.
** A formal training/manners class is required and must be completed within 6 months to finalize the adoption.
Dolly’s dream home:
An adult-only household (due to her small size).
Someone who is home most of the time, so she feels secure and loved.
A calm household where she can shine with another small, respectful dog.
Someone who appreciates her loyal little watchdog nature — Dolly takes her home protection duties seriously!
Most importantly, an adopter who will stay committed to her allergy care, keeping her happy and healthy for life. We’ll know more after her visit to the allergist, but this could include medication, injections, or prescription food.
If you’re looking for a sweet, sassy little companion who will reward your care with endless love and loyalty, Dolly may just be your new best friend. She’s overcome so much — now all she needs is a forever home to call her own!
