Georgine was spotted in the shelter looking completely disheveled. She was a stray awaiting her stray hold. When she was not claimed we scooped her up immediately. This poor little lady has been through the ringer and back. She was completely shaved down at the shelter due to severe matting and an infestation of fleas. Once shaved the shelter found a severely malnourished dog with several mammary tumors and some fatty tumors as well. After cleaning off her face and shaving it down they found cataracts and a subluxated lens as well. Through no fault of her own this girl has definitely seen better days.
Our foster scooped her up on Friday and we called and begged our veterinary partners to please see her ASAP. They came through and we were able to get her in on Saturday. Dr. G examined her, and she was a good girl despite the poking and prodding. She had blood work, x-rays and a thorough exam. To our surprise she does not have a heart murmur, her blood work is great and her chest x-ray was clear. She does need a dental cleaning, mammary tumor removal, and spay. She also needs to gain weight. We have her on a prescription diet to help her safely gain weight as well.
This lady deserves more than she was given in life. We are here to make sure that she never suffers again. She will become available for adoption once she is healed from her surgery and after she sees the eye specialist.
