Gracie is new in rescue. She was surrendered by a breeder in Pennsylvania because she has a heart murmur and was no longer useful as a breeding dog. A colleague of ours in the area contacted us and of course we had to act! Gracie’s life is now safe. She is in a foster home with her 3 puppies. She will get the care she needs and deserves.
Gracie is a 4 year old Shih Tzu. She weighs about 14 pounds. She is very sweet and she takes great care of her babies. She is very shy but not defensive. She doesn’t know home life. She was living in a cage with outdoor access that was concrete. She’s never taken a walk or played in the yard in the green summer grass. She has enjoyed the large ex-pen foster mom has for her and the puppies to explore.
Right now Gracie needs to learn to be a pet; to realize she is loved; and to understand her only job is to be a dog!! She will need a patient adopter willing to nurture her, and give her space to learn and become a confident pup. A fenced yard would be a plus but no longer required. She is learning to walk on lead and with her harness and no longer frightened by the outdoors.
Gracie needs to finish her vetting with a light dental and spay surgery after cardiac clearance.
