Welcome to the family Jackson!
Jackson is a sweet little, senior, mixed breed pup (Dachshund/Chihuahua mix). He was rescued by his owner when he was three years old. He was surrendered to a veterinarian by his first owner when he developed spinal cord issues. He was diagnosed with IVDD and needed very expensive surgery (read more about IVDD HERE) The first owner could not afford the surgery so she gave him to the vet to try to rehome.
In steps Jackson's second owner. She had the surgery completed to help Jackson and he lived a good life he suffered spinal cord injuries again, and again and again. But his owner did not give up on him. He was an amazing little dog, full of life and love. His owner had a set of wheels made for him and he continued to live a happy and fulfilled life. But soon Jackson’s world would turn upside down. Jackson’s human dad passed away after a battle with cancer he missed him terribly. But he, his fur brother and hu-MOM continued on living life until the unthinkable happened. Jackson’s hu-MOM was diagnosed with terminal cancer too! She needed to find homes for both of her dogs. Jackson’s younger brother who was healthy had no trouble finding a home but sadly no one would take responsibility for a 15 year old paraplegic pup. That’s when hu-MOM reached out to us and we said YES!!
It took a little while but as luck would have it two ladies applied to the rescue to help dogs with special needs! They have a love for seniors and want to help dogs. Well, the stars aligned and we placed Jackson in their care! He is now thriving! He enjoys lots of special treats, walks, and new toys! These two fosters are incredibly special! Jackson even gets to visit with hu-MOM!! Jess and Jen arrange visits for hu-MOM when she is feeling up to it. We know it was hard for his hu-MOM to surrender him. We are honored she chose us to help and blessed to have his fosters who love him so much.
While Jackson is an older senior, he is still full of life. He plays with his toys and will chase squirrels and cats daring to come into his yard! He is a happy boy who just needs love and attention; and, he returns that love daily! But we cannot have happy endings like this without your help!
