Welcome to the family Jackson!
Jackson is a sweet little, senior, mixed breed pup (Dachshund/Chihuahua mix). He was rescued by his owner when he was three years old. He was surrendered to a veterinarian by his first owner when he developed spinal cord issues. He was diagnosed with IVDD and needed very expensive surgery (read more about IVDD HERE) The first owner could not afford the surgery so she gave him to the vet to try to rehome.
In steps Jackson's current owner. They had the surgery completed and he lived a good life until it happened again, and again and again. But his owner did not give up on him. He was still full of life. She had wheels made for him and he has continued to live a happy and fulfilled life until now.
Unfortunately, Jackson's owner is suffering with a serious medical condition and had to relocate/rehome her pets. Everyone took the pets who were healthy and that left poor Jackson. No one wanted to take on the responsibility of a partially paralyzed pet. That's when his mom called Compact Canine Rescue and we said YES!!
Jackson has been placed in foster care with our rescue. He is an older senior but he is still active and playful. He plays with his toys and will chase squirrels and cats daring to come into his yard! He is a happy boy who just needs love and attention. He still has a lot of love to give.
We are honored to be Jackson's new family! We wish his former mom nothing but the best and thank her for allowing us to care for him. He is one sweet little dude!
