King Louie is new in rescue. He is approximately 2 years old and weighs about 14 pounds.

King Louie was rescued previously by a Good Samaritan who was walking into the shelter. She saw his owner getting ready to take him in to the shelter for surrender. He was very skinny and looked sickly. She knew he would not survive long there. She took him home, took him to the vet and nursed him back to health. Now he is a happy go lucky, little love bug. His first rescuer had him since November. She took wonderful care of him but now is beginning a new full-time job and doesn't want him to be left alone all day. We are so grateful to her for saving him and for allowing us to continue the rescue efforts.

King Louie is the typical French Bulldog. He is very snorty. :-) He has had his soft palate repaired. He is neutered and up to date on his vaccines. His potty manners are progressing too! King Louie is a real love bug. He loves snuggling. He enjoys walking and is crate trained for night time without any potty accidents or needs. He gets along with the resident dog and seems to love everyone and everything.

We believe King Louie was used as a stud dog but when he was vomiting and not gaining weight he was taken to the shelter to be surrendered as he was no longer useful. Thankfully our  Good Samaritan was there. She realized something was wrong and offered to take him. She began feeding him in an upright position. We believe he has megaesophagus but he doesn't have a formal diagnosis as of yet. Its mostly anecdotal evidence.  Read more about megaesophagus in dogs  here  .  It is a condition with no cure and treatment is usually for symptoms with things such as antacids, low fat/low residue diet, vertical feeding positions and time spent upright after feeding to prevent regurgitation. Dogs can live happy, healthy lives with this condition. We have spoken with the makers of The Bailey Chair to get one made for King Louie. Of course, he will have to call it his Throne!

King Louie will be seen by the vet on Friday, March 29th. Once he is vetted and diagnosis is confirmed he will be ready for adoption.

Experienced bulldog owners preferred.
