Meet Minnie Mouse: A Lovely Little Senior Lady

Minnie absolutely loves being outdoors. She takes every opportunity to go outside and often pretends not to hear when called back inside. Usually, she’ll simply glance back and then settle herself comfortably in the grass. However, she’s quick to respond when offered a treat. Minnie also enjoys snuggling with her foster siblings and has a habit of covering herself with blankets when she sleeps—sometimes just partially, other times completely. At night, she prefers to sleep under the covers in the human bed, nestled down by her foster family’s feet. Hardwood floors aren’t her favorite since she finds them slippery, so she walks carefully and slowly inside the house. Minnie seems to be left-pawed, frequently using her left side to signal for more petting from her humans.

Minnie Mouse is a recent arrival in rescue, having come from the Suffolk Shelter as an owner surrender. She is a miniature pinscher mix, approximately 11 years old and weighing about 11 pounds.

This gentle girl has adjusted well to her foster home and gets along nicely with the resident dogs. Minnie is very much a lap dog; she adores cuddling and will nudge your hand if you pause in petting her. She is friendly, affectionate, and thrives on companionship.

Minnie Mouse appears to understand proper potty habits, though, like all dogs, there’s no guarantee she’s fully house trained. She is comfortable walking on a leash and eats her meals in her exercise pen. Most days, she enjoys plenty of naps, embracing her senior status with grace. Despite her age, Minnie is lively and energetic—you’d never guess she’s 11 years old unless you knew her birthday. She remains a spirited little lady who would make a wonderful addition to the right home.

Minnie Mouse will flourish in a quiet, adults-only home with people experienced in caring for senior dogs. She hasn’t been tested with children, and due to her age, it’s best to assume she may not be suited to living with them now. While she doesn’t require another dog in the home, she would be fine with a polite canine companion. Minnie would benefit from a short daily walk to stretch her legs, and a fenced yard would be ideal so she can safely explore and enjoy nature at her own pace.

Her foster mom describes Minnie Mouse as a delightful lady and a joy to foster. For any questions, potential adopters are encouraged to reach out to her foster mom at the provided email address.

Minnie Mouse recently saw the vet (on 8/4) and received a great report. The veterinary staff were surprised to learn she is a senior, as she charmed everyone she met. Don’t let this lovely little dog slip by—she’s truly a dream!
