Meet Rosemary! She’s more affectionately known as Rosie the Rescue, CCR’s newest ambassador! She is the second ambassador for the rescue. Our sweet little Whiskey Lee was our first ambassador, and a legend!
Rosie was rescued from the Suffolk Animal Shelter after being turned in by a Good Samaritan volunteer for our rescue. We worked with the animal control officers at the shelter to take her if no one claimed ownership. We were notified she was available and we scooped her up ASAP!
We believe Rosie was a breeding female turned out when she was no longer useful. We do not know her age but she is at least 6-8 years old, well past breeding age. When breeders get fewer puppies than expected from a breeding female, they retire the female…basically put her out to pasture. We don’t know this for sure but she came to us looking as if she had recently had puppies who were weaned.
We had Rosie vetted and spayed right away. Rosie had trouble under anesthesia and there were concerns about her medically, so the rescue adopted her as its newest ambassador. She will help us educate people about puppy mills, the advantages of spaying and neutering your pets, as well as spread the word about shelter and rescue pets needing good homes!
Rosie, like Whiskey Lee, will live out her life fully loved and cared for by the rescue. She deserves more than she was given in life and our rescue intends to give her the best life has to offer moving forward!
