I've found my furever family!

Hi! My Name Is Rue

We're happy to tell you that Rue has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Dogs Page to see the pups currently available.

Rue is a two-year-old, 17-pound Chihuahua mix. She came to us from an uncontrolled breeding/hoarding situation in the south. You wouldn't guess she had a rough start by her friendly disposition. She gently takes treats from your hand, loves to be pet, and gives lots of snuggles and kisses in return. It doesn't take her long to warm up to new people and she has settled into her foster home very quickly. She likes her foster brother, however, she especially enjoys the company of her humans. She would do well in a home with or without dogs. Rue has a bit of separation anxiety and follows her parents from room to room. She rarely barks except when startled by someone suddenly walking into the room or opening the door. She would prefer to live with a family who has someone at home most of the time and has the patience to train her. Rue needs to learn commands and how to walk on a leash. We are working on this and we're confident she will catch on soon. She is food-motivated and eager to please so we are already seeing improvements!

Rue is currently staying with foster parents Lauren and Matt in New Jersey. She will be ready for adoption after May 25. If you'd like to learn more about this sweet pup, please email lauren@compactcaninerescue.org.
