Things to consider when applying to adopt Sampson:

  • 6 month old miniature schnauzer
  • roughly 18 pounds
  • very high energy
  • good with people, so far
  • becoming barky, probably not be a good fit for an apartment or townhome, schnauzers are very good guard dogs!
  • good with resident foster family’s dogs (ages 7 and up)
  • adopter and dog will be required to complete basic manners/training to complete adoption
  • He will need several walks daily, he loves to sniff and explore too
  • he saw an eye specialist and had corrective surgery for a condition called hairy dermoid
  • read more about miniature schnauzers here
  • Eye surgery was completed for June 24th, he will need a check up by Sept 24th with an eye specialist, then follow specialists recommendations, if any
  • Make a donation here to help pay for his medical costs.

Sampson is doing well in foster care. He has grown a lot. He has almost doubled in size and gained about 4-5 pounds since arriving in rescue. He weighs approximately 18 pounds and is almost fully grown.

He is polite to his older foster siblings. He was respectful of the doggy guest foster mom kept for a friend to vacation. He has taken to leash walking very well. He is VERY food driven. He should be easy to train.

Sampson will thrive in an active home. He will need multiple walks and mental stimulation daily to prevent unwanted puppy behavior. His potty manners are progressing. A fenced yard would be a plus. He LOVES to run and play but it would not be a substitute for walking him.

We are very surprised this little guy has not been snatched up by now! He is a very affectionate, smart little guy!
