Kriss Kringle aka Scrappy, arrived on December 15th. He did not understand he was a pet now! In the last week (writing 12/21/24) he has made a remarkable transition to foster care and life as a pet! All he has ever known is life as a sire to many litters of puppies. Despite his first 7 years of life this boy is very loving and sweet. He follows his foster mom around the house all day. He integrated into the pack of foster siblings easily and is learning a lot from them.
He is slightly overweight at 21.5 pounds but we are on a strict feeding schedule with tiny treats for good potty manners and good boy behaviors. So far, since his arrival, he has learned to walk around the yard on leash, and mastered the doorstep and 6 brick stairs required to go in and out of the house to go potty. He is crate trained for sleep, and sleeps all night long. He enjoys snuggles on the couch and as many pets as you can provide. If you stop petting him, he will paw your hand until you begin again! He is a very loving little man. With patience and time he will make an amazing pet.
Kriss Kringle will be neutered on January 8th and once healed he will be ready for adoption. In the meantime, he will continue learning leash skills, working on his potty manners and enjoying life as a pet not property.
UPDATE 12/30/2024: Foster Mom says...
Scrappy is a delight to foster. He entered my pack of 3 yorkies and a standard schnauzer without issues and gets along great. He tries to initiate play at times. He is learning so much from them. He has mastered the steps in and out of the house, is having fewer accidents and even walked with the pack for the first time and did GREAT! He is very loving, sleeps all night in his crate, eats both meals heartily, and naps periodically throughout the day. He is a delight to foster. I am really happy with his progress so far! Don't let this handsome fella pass you bye! He is a dream dog!
