Shadow has moved to a quieter foster home. His previous foster home was very busy with lots of people coming and going. And several resident dogs. Shadow found it a bit overwhelming.

Since moving to his much quieter foster home, Shadow is blossoming. He is a sweet boy who loves belly rubs and walks outside, when the temperature is a bit cooler (black dogs and extreme heat and lots of sunshine do not mix). He has proven himself to be housebroken. He sleeps quietly in his crate every night. He eats well and loves treats!

Shadow does have some stranger anxiety with both people and dogs. He is learning, through positive training methods, that strangers are not all bad. He does relax after alerting. His forever family will need to commit to continuing his training.

Shadow prefers to have the opportunity to roam in the house if he is left alone, and he has proven himself to be trustworthy. He doesn't make a mess or chew on anything or get into anything he shouldn't. He is not happy being confined if no one is home.

He does have a couple of toys he enjoys playing with ... but his favorite thing to do is snuggle with his people. Shadow has a beautiful coat! He is an interesting mix of breeds (his foster mom can tell you more -- CCR did a DNA test), so he does shed just a little bit. He will need regular grooming and brushing on occasion. He enjoys being brushed.

Shadow has some slight mobility issues due some spinal injuries. He can do a few steps, but he cannot jump on (or should he jump off) of furniture. He has learned, very quickly, to use steps to get up on the couch ... one of his favorite places to relax. He takes an inexpensive medication daily to ensure he is not experiencing any pain. He does have the cutest little wiggle when he walks!

Shadow will thrive in a quiet home with adults as an "only" dog, or with one calm canine sibling. Young children or an active household would not be the best fit for him. He would enjoy a fenced yard, however, he absolutely loves his daily short walks, a couple of times a day. A mature person or couple would make awesome parents for him.
