UPDATE 6/26/2025 Foster mom says:

Sue is still getting used to her leash and harness while taking walks. Rather than sniff and mark, she prefers to walk while checking with you to make sure everything’s OK.

Food excites Sue and she will lick your dish if she can get to it, dog treats do not. She prefers to eat out of her bowl instead your hand—though she makes an exception for chicken!

She will follow you around in the backyard and comes when called. She would spend more time with other dogs in the yard if you are not there but she focuses more on human than other dogs if giving a choice.  Sue is not interested in catching birds or squirrels so she doesn’t bark at small animals when she encounters them.  She prefers running around the deck to the low side over climbing stairs—probably because of her small size.

During her visit to the vet, she was calm and open to meeting new dog friends and humans. She rides well in the car, undisturbed by the motion, though she is still getting used to the noise of the motor.

She generally sleeps through the night and noise or music doesn’t bother her.  Sue loves to sleep on you or with you in bed but she will sleep on the doggie pillow or in the crate without complaint.

Sue doesn’t look for toys or partner to play with nor is she bother by other dog’s curiosity to engage.  She is mostly happy on your lap or lying next to you.

She is small in size but she knows how to defend herself if she gets bully by bigger dog.  Sue would bark in excitement when she sees her favorite person or when she hears strange noises; however, she doesn’t bark excessively.

UPDATE: Sue is continuing to get acclimated to her new home. She is taking cues from the resident foster dogs in the home. She is going in and out to the back yard with the gang to potty. She loves to snuggle on the sofa in your lap. She is a very relaxed dog. She loves to chill. She will be spayed and have her dental on May 28th. Once healed she will be ready for adoption.

Sue is new in rescue. She is a 4 year old, 11 pound Miniature Schnauzer. She was surrendered to our rescue because she needs expensive dental care her owners could not provide. She is very sweet. She follows foster mom around the house and wants attention. Sue will need leash training. She seems to have good house manners so far.

She will see the vet for a preoperative exam then have her spay and dental. Once she is healed from surgery, she will be ready for adoption.
