Willow is a 4-year-old Miniature Schnauzer weighing approximately 20 pounds. She recently arrived in early September from Pennsylvania, where she was previously living in a puppy mill environment. Because Willow never conceived, she was surrendered to our care.
Despite her difficult beginnings, Willow is a sweet and gentle little lady. While she may be shy when meeting new people, she warms up quickly once she feels comfortable. In her foster home, Willow is learning how to behave like a dog by observing and interacting with the resident dogs. She is gradually coming to her foster mom and family more frequently for affection and attention, and she is making progress in learning to go potty outside. Willow watches the resident dogs closely and takes cues from them as she adjusts to her new life.
Currently, Willow is about eight pounds overweight and will require regular exercise and a proper diet to achieve a healthy weight. She has already begun learning to walk on a leash, which will help her establish a consistent exercise routine. If necessary, a prescription diet may be recommended to help her reach her optimal weight, after which she can transition to regular kibble for maintenance. Currently she has lost 4 pounds! Way to go Willow!
Willow's coat will need consistent care to stay healthy. She will require regular bathing and brushing at home, as well as professional grooming every four to six weeks to maintain her appearance and comfort.
Willow was spayed September 9th and has made a full recovery. She is now ready to find her forever home and become a beloved member of a new family.
